Our Present
For a quiet rural hamlet located off the beaten track Bishop’s Mills is a remarkably thriving and vibrant community!
Winter Fun Day
Bishop’s Millions came out to celebrate winter with their neighbours on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. They enjoyed public skating, broom ball and other ice/snow games at the park in the afternoon, then all gathered at the Community Hall for a heart-warming pot luck-supper.
Rain Barrel Fundraiser a Success!
100 rain barrels were ordered, paid for and picked up in June 2011, netting the Community Association almost $1,000 towards the cost of our Community Hall.
Community Hall Roof Repairs
The Bishop’s Mills Community Association was successful in obtaining a grant towards the cost of roof repairs. Repairs and new paint were completed in June.
Cemetery Board Receives Grant
The Bishop’s Mills Cemetery Board also received funding toward the cost of widening the door to the vault, which was completed during the summer. A new sign is also attached to the wall of the vault informing visitors of how to contact the cemetery custodian. Dozens of visitors a year visit the Cemetery looking for information on family members and Bishop’s Mills early pioneers.
Music Night & Community Hall Fundraiser, 2011
Local musicians including John Carroll, Doug Hendry and Other Local Talent took to the stage for an evening of fun and entertainment on March 26, 2011. A packed house enjoyed original music plus some old favourites, followed by home-made refreshments.
